We are seeking highly skilled and motivated Instrumentation Technicians to join our team for upcoming work in Freeport, TX. The Instrumentation Technicians will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of a wide range of instruments and control systems used in petrochemical production. This role is vital to ensure the reliability, efficiency, and safety of plant operations, and to support continuous improvement initiatives. Overtime and per diem is available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Calibration: Install, calibrate, and commission instrumentation equipment, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, analyzers, control valves, and other control systems.
- Maintenance & Repair: Perform regular preventative maintenance and repair of instruments and control systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with process control systems, instrumentation devices, and associated electrical components, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- System Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor instrumentation systems, analyze data, and make adjustments as necessary to optimize performance and ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of instrument calibration, maintenance schedules, repairs, and troubleshooting activities. Ensure all work complies with industry standards and company policies.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Participate in safety training, hazard assessments, and emergency response drills.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth integration of new systems and upgrades, as well as to provide technical support during shutdowns or maintenance outages.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve system reliability, reduce downtime, and increase operational efficiency through new technology, process improvements, or updated procedures.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Instrumentation Technician, preferably in the petrochemical, chemical, or oil and gas industries.
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems, process instrumentation, and automation technologies.
- Proficient in the use of calibration tools, test equipment, and diagnostic software.
- Knowledge of relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Familiarity with DCS (Distributed Control Systems), PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), and SCADA systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), and control system schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Certifications: Valid Instrumentation or Electrical Technician certification (e.g., NCCER, ISA, NICET) is highly preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a variety of environments, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding conditions.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
