Job Summary
UPS Industrial Services is searching for an experienced Sr. Piping Designer. This is a field position. The designer will be working on site at a client’s facility. Experience working at a refinery in a fast-paced environment is desired. You must be able to walk down the scope of work, pull field dimensions, and sketch piping isometrics. You will be working collaboratively with the site planners, engineers, and management to deliver quality drawing packages that adhere to UPS Industrial Standards and client expectations. The designer must be proficient with AutoCad/CADWorx and working with laser scan data (point cloud).
Responsibilities
- Creating piping layouts and 3D models for piping systems using P&ID’s, pipe specs, and other information provided within a scope of work package to develop piping isometrics..
- Gather required field information to develop field sketches. Field work is performed at the plant and will require some climbing and walking.
- Will need to work at a pace to meet project schedules/budgets but also ensure quality is maintained.
- Provide management with estimated time of completion for scope of work.
- Create drawing deliverable packages that will be submitted to the client.
Minimum Requirements
- 10+ years of experience as a piping designer (extensive time working in the field at a plant preferred).
- High school diploma
- Associate’s degree in Drafting or Design preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in AutoCad and CADWorx.
- Experience working with laser scan data (point cloud).
- Strong drafting ability and project organizational skills.
- Experience with piping design drawings and documents (piping plans, sections, details, isometrics, P&ID’s, piping specifications etc.)
- Attention to detail is a must to ensure a high quality is maintained.
- Must be able to pass drug screen and background check.
- TWIC and basic plus are required for this facility.
